IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)

IPTV is an acronym that stands for Internet Protocol Television. It refers to the digital transmission of TV programmes and films via the closed broadband network of an IPTV provider. This guarantees content availability. The largest providers in Germany are currently Deutsche Telekom (Magenta) and Vodafone (Giga TV).

Unlike traditional transmission paths, no tuner is needed to receive IPTV-based programmes because IPTV technically means the streaming of video files. A special receiver (Set-top box) must be connected to a conventional TV set to convert these files.
