From A for AGF Videoforschung to Z for zapping, the most important technical terms in video research are explained here.

HbbTV is an acronym that stands for Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television. By supplementing and combining existing standards such as DVB and Internet technologies, this standard makes it possible for a TV set or set-top box to receive and display special, HbbTV-conformant websites. It features TV-specific functions such as navigation with RC keys and background control of the broadcast video. An HbbTV website is signaled via the broadcast channel. Data can be transmitted both via the broadcast channel and via the Internet.

HD+ is a programming service of the satellite operator SES ASTRA, which can only be received via the ASTRA satellite. It enables programmes of various private broadcasters to be broadcast in HD quality.

HDMI is an acronym that stands for High-Definition Interface. This is an interface for the digital transmission of audio and video data in entertainment electronics.

HDTV is an acronym that stands for High-Definition Television. This technology delivers higher image resolution and thus better image quality on TV sets. Special HD receivers, which are already integrated into TV sets in some cases, are needed to receive these images.

HKP is an acronym that stands for Household-Keeping Person. It refers to the person in the household who performs most of the housekeeping.

This is a measurement approach that combines a census measurement with a panel measurement. Census measurement measures all accesses of the video streaming offerings of system participants. The precondition for this kind of measurement is the integration of the Nielsen measurement library into the measured players and content tagging on the basis of the valid AGF c-variable catalog (see C-variables). Thanks to the complementary measurement in the Desktop Panel, not only structural information of the panelists (e.g. demographic characteristics, device ownership), but also information about their video streaming usage are available. These data are matched with and calibrated to the census data.
